The new youth icon of the generation Ranbir Kapoor hails from the “first family” of Indian Cinema and is the son of yesteryear actors Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. His heart melting smile and ever sparkling innocence in those eyes seems to have captivated millions of hearts; making him the new heart throb of the nation.
Before elevating on his journey as an actor, Ranbir started his career as an Assistant to India’s best known and approved director Sanjay Leela Bhansali where, he was occupied in the making of the film Black. He later made his acting debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya opposite Anil Kapoor’s daughter Sonam Kapoor. Although the film failed to do well at the box office his talent was well realized.
His next release was with Siddharth Anand’s Bachna Ae Haseeno which was reasonably appreciated at the box office. Then came Ayan Mukherji’s Wake Up Sid which was a commercial success. This film offered him the much desired recognition. Not only was he appreciated but he earned several nominations for Best Actor at several award functions too. He later appeared in Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani, Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year, Rajneeti and Anjaana Anjaani, Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar. After the release of Rockstar, he earned the Best Actor and Best Actor (critics) award at the 57th Filmfare Award. In 2012 Ranbir appeared in Anurag Basu’s Barfi together with Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D’Cruz which got him rant reviews for his performance as a deaf-mute boy from critics as well as the audience.
As of September 2012, Kapoor is scheduled to appear in Ayan Mukherji’s Yeh Jawani hai Deewani alongside Deepika Padukone, and Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet opposite Anushka Sharma.
These films have been the stepping stone in his career which not only offered him name and success but also the most wanted Stardom too. He gradually and eventually was recognized globally; with a following of billions of fans across the globe and worldwide. Ranbir Kapoor’s Fan Base is ever escalating, and he is becoming a household name across most continents and generations of film fanatics. We wish him luck for all his upcoming projects.
